Skylarks

Hi all
The area between Blackstone edge and Stoodley pike must hold between 75 and 100 pairs of Skylarks.Great manshead Hill ,Gorple and many other hill sides still hold good populations.Calderdale must hold between 500 and 750 pairs at least what dose anyone else think.?

We should have some sort of a picture from the RSPB upland bird surveys that a few of us did last year. I'll try get some numbers from them. It didn;t cover everywhere, but was pretty extensive

It's always very difficult to estimate numbers in large areas such as Calderdale I well remember getting some estimates hopelessly wrong back in the early 80s when we tried to give all breeding birds a status classification. The work you are doing in the South Pennines this year Andy will probably give us the most accurate figures we've had in a long time.
