'Sparrowhawk Kill at Barkisland'

On my way up to Ringstone for the second time this afternoon when I noticed this individual fending off a couple of Carrion Crow and a Magpie in a field below Barkisland.

I know it's probably not appropriate to post this on 'Sean's Day' but my Great Northern Diver pics don't quite have the same quality as Sean's so I thought a few action shots of something he hasn't photographed wouldn't go amiss.

Good shots Dave. It looks like the prey was a pigeon. I've seen a sparrowhawk chase a woodpig unsuccessfully but thought they generally went for smaller birds such as blackbirds.

Great shots Dave - just there at the right time - suppose that's what it's all about. Glad to meet you this morning, see you again sometime.
