Nesting

Les Midgley tells me that the House Sparrows are showing interest in the nest boxes at jay House lane again. He will update me with information on numbers and nests over the next few weeks.

Herons nest has had no activity recorded for a couple of weeks now, but this has happend in the past and they reappear back on the nest after a couple of weeks. Crow, Magpie, Blue Tit all nest building at various points this morning. Also a pair of Canada Geese have nested on the Lagoon, one bird sitting this morning.

Literally dozens of Chif-Chaf singing all down the towpath and Tag Loop this morning. Both Green and Greater Pecker heard calling and drumming respectively. I also picked out several pairs of Bullfinch down the towpath this morning so assume they have paired up and are looking for nesting sites.

Do you mean House sparrows or Tree sparrows? We have someone making some boxes to replace those damaged by cattle, I'd better chase them up!
