18th August Swallow roost

Evening out with SC, we decided to check Elland Gravel Pits to see if the Swallow roost had built up and were delighted to see at least 5000 birds come in to the reed beds at dusk. Its worth keeping an I on this as the numbers may even double in the next few weeks. Also present 1 Tawny Owl and a Grey Heron, just missed a Sparrowhawk go through the Swallow flock.
A brief visit to Ringstone Edge prior brought a Great Crested Grebe, 1 LBBG, 1 Common Gull, 100 BHGs and just 6 Lapwings.
