A male G S pecker nearby
2 Nuthatches, with possibly a third nearby: birds 'hoarding' nuts in old tree trunks
3 Jays, one collecting acorns from the ground and taking them to nearby trees
Sound of a Tawny Owl calling distantly at the top of the wood - but at 11.00 am ?

Tawny owls have been singing a lot these last few weeks. Not often heard in the daytime, though Hardcastle Crags and Crimsworth Dean are areas I heve heard them singing during the day in days gone by but only occasionally!
Nice one with the lesser pecker and could be good for next years 'pecker watch spot' lets hope!
