Brookfoot/EGP.

DJSutcliffe was unlucky as at 1000 this morning the Ski Lake had 1 Scaup, 48 Tufted, 4 G/C/Grebe, 2 Pochard, 1 Goldeneye, c175 B/H/Gulls, 21 Common Gulls. River by Avocet Works had 14 Cormorant and 4 Teal. Flying around were 29 Lapwing. My garden at the moment is being bossed by 4 Fieldfare that see off all comers that go near the apples I put out. Also wish everyone a very Happy New Year.

Lovely photo Mike showing just how beautiful the plumage is on a Fieldfare.

Scaup was still present yesterday (3rd) at 15:30 with much the same number and species of bird that you saw plus 2 Mute Swan, Grey Heron & 4 Cormorant.

2 Mute Swan near Colnebridge Sludge Plant earlier and 4 Stock Dove nearby

That is an absolutely belting shot of a fieldfare.

A great garden find, Mike, and a lovely photo too.
Nuthatches are very active up here at Coach Road, but I've never been able to track down a nest site - it's probably on the golf course or in the grounds of Cliffe Hill !
A good birding New Year.
