Jay House Lane

Called on the way to work this morning, still loads of Field fare on the field at the top, 3 skylark displaying/scrapping, Lapwing displaying and a hare ran along the wall at the far end.

We had a shed load of Fieldfares up there on Sunday, after doing the grand tour of Calderdale on a wild hare hunt. No hares (not even a rabbit) at Crow Hill, Flight House Lane and Jay House Lane, nor any of the areas adjacent to any these sites. With no frogs sightings over the last couple of weeks I was beginning to wonder if the long harsh winter has had a detrimental effect on things at the bottom of the food chain, the results of which we are yet to see.

Was there this morning too and Fieldfares everywhere and heard the Skylarks too. Nice little area to have on the commute route!
The most Hares I saw last year were off Castle Carr Road but perhaps they have moved to lower ground in the cold as I have not seen any on my few visits this year.
