Whiteholme res

I had a call at lunchtime today from Alan Nuttall (birder from Littleborough/Hollingworth Lake area) who said there was a Knot and a Sanderling in winter plumage at Whiteholme res. He also said it was very windy up there.

I went up later (about 15:30) but the birds weren't to be seen. A couple of Ringed Plovers and 2 Wheatears showing up well on the black mud shoreline in the afternoon sun made the walk around the res worthwhile though.

Bad luck Jeff on the Knot and Sanderling but good to get the news from Allan
