Tree Sparrows

There were half a dozen Tree Sparrows around a stone barn at Woolrow Farm, near Bailiffe Bridge, yesterday.
This is approx one mile from the site at Jay House Lane, so it's hard to say whether these birds have wandered from that site, or are a new colony: one to watch !
Access is difficult by car as farm is at the end of a narrow track;Birkhouse Road is 'parkable'. then follow the rough track up the hill to the farm.

Wednesday: six birds at the same site, some taking food into gaps in the barn wall at regular intervals.
Good views of birds perched on the wires attached to the barn wall.

Do you think the population could be increased by providing some nest boxes Mike?

Not sure, Nick; there are plenty of gaps between the stones in the barn wall which seem to be very suitable.
Also there aren't the number of trees or bushes around that have been used successfully at Jay House Lane.
