Fly Flatts/Withens Head

Twite sheltering from the wind - they seem to show much more contrast in the plumage this time of year especially showing more white as on this shot.

Unusual conditions up there this afternoon, so warm at 24c along with a strong blustery westerly F7.
There were 19 Twite at the feeding station including just one colour ringed bird. This is our highest count there this year so there may be more turn up in the next few weeks (if the weather stays favourable)!! as October seems to be the best month for numbers up there. No Wheatears today.
4 Stonechats just down the track from the feeding area flew off across the moor towards Dean Head
1 Red Grouse
c15 Meadow Pipits

2 Red-legged Partridge just down the road from 'The Withens'

Good count of Twite, the movers I got at the weekend may have decided to stay, lets hope we get back to how it used to be.
