Hartshead, after (and during) the rain

Lots of recently ploughed and sown fields have attracted a few flocks -

35 Lapwings and 200+ Starlings near Hartshead church.
11 Pheasants nearby.
40+ Chaffinches and Greenfinches in a mixed flock, with
19, maybe more Pied Wagtails in the same Kirklees estate field.
And a lone female Yellowhammer calling from the hedgerow.

But no sign of Buzzards or Little Owls for a few weeks.

A Red Admiral was a pleasant surprise in the damp, gloomy conditions.

Good to get a Yellowhammer Mike, pleased there are signs they are still about. Good to get a Red Admiral as well. We had one in Lee Mount this afternoon when the sun appeared for 10 minutes today!
