Jaw dropping photos, what a great find

Juvenile - first winter Rough-legged Buzzard found by Karen Mather off Smithy Lane/Withens Lane End 1km west of Ringstone Edge on 13th October, the day after the Great-northern Diver turned up. Unfortunatly Karen did not know who to contact but did manage to get these superb shots of the bird which was present from at least 11AM until dusk. Unfortunatly there was no sign of the bird the next day or thereafter. Wheather or not it is the same bird that was near Bacup also on 13th is unkwown but I could probably check with Rochdale birders to find out the times of both sightings. What a great record.

The bird just over the border at Shawforth was seen at 10.30AM and the birder was able to get fairly close to it. It was a bit wet and bedraggaled. Karen told me that her bird at first appeared wet and bedraggald but latter on it had dried out. Same bird or different?????

You,d think all your birthdays had come at once if you came across a bird like that!

Superb photo's, fantastic find, huge thank you to Karen for making the effort to find us and share the photo's. I hope she posts them on Birdguides as they surely are a photo of the week winner.
Brian indeed you would though having just reached 40 I'm not sure I want them all to come at once and the 13th was my Birthday!!
