Swallow

Posted this yesterday but not appeared on the blog.

Saw a swallow yesterday from my 'office' window upstairs, facing Bottoms Mill cafe window, Walsden. It flew towards me and did a circle - absolutely no doubt about what it was. It flew off south (?) over the house.

Is this unusual? I didn't know we had one or two all year round.

Well spotted there Sandra a good late report. The latest Ive ever seen one was 2 at EGP last day of November some years ago. There are still flies around so it will still be able to feed.

Most definately unusual Sandra. According to BirdGuides they have only 9 records in the country in December. Up till 14th (with none since)most of these were on the south coast and Norfolk or Linc's with one record on the 5th in Dumfrise and Galloway.
They should of course be in South Africa by now!
