Blackbirds

There were 13 blackbirds in the shrubs adjacent to the terrace at work (The Hatchery) in Mytholmroyd yesterday morning.  We've never had more than 2 in the past.  Where would these have come from?  Some were eating from a tree with orange/yellow berries on.

Blackbirds from northern Europe and Scandanavia move to warmer climes in winter and arrive over here in autumn to join our resident birds. Some residents take this influx personally and can defend their food sources vigorously so you may hear a few skirmishes going on.
