Blackshaw Head and Jumble Hole

Did my early visit for the BTO Breeding Bird Survey at Blackshaw Head this morning and met a lady called Debbie who said she heard a Cuckoo down Jumble Hole on Monday.

Lapwing - 4
Curlew - 2
Linnet - 4
Meadow Pipit - 3
Skylark - 1
Swallow - 2
Reed Bunting - 2

Walked back down Jumble Hole and checked for the Garden Warblers that Matt reported but no sight or sound for me today. Lots of ChiffChaffs and Willow Warblers, a Grey Wagtail in the stream, and 2 Blackcaps singing as well. The highlight was a Willow Warbler that landed just 2 yards from me and started to sing - fabulous. Don't take the camera with me on BBS visits as I don't have enough hands to sort out pencil, recording sheets, bins and camera :)
