Bird Behaviour

Thought I'd ask a question on bird behaviour , I was at Adel Dam
last week and observed 2 Jay's diving into the lake like they were Kingfishers
it was funny to watch but I've never seen it before, they'd stand on a branch and
just dive in they did it lots of times too, I know that they can mimic birds but
this was just uncanny, has anybody else seen odd bird behaviour or anything like this.

Never seen that Dave - wonder if they could see the fish and fancied a change in this cold weather (?)though I doubt they would catch any - but who knows, they are very intelligent and clever birds. Other than that they were bathing ! I guess you got some photo's ?
I think it was on the recent Winter Watch that they showed a Robin catching small fish and swallowing them whole. A good meal for a Robin (or a Jay).

No didn't get it on camera as it was too dark under trees where they were but a friend of mine seen it happening as well, we couldn't believe what we were seeing, I think they've seen the Kingfishers diving in from there and copied them.
