Appreciate the report Phil. Thank you. I don't think they are as common as perhaps they used to be so worth keeping a close eye on records of Dippers.

I always have a look in the Calder when passing, despite the deeply unpromising surroundings! I don't think sightings are scarcer, subjectively, than over the last twenty years I have been looking.
It is ironic that when I first got interested in birds in the late 90's, Dipper was one I looked in every stream on holidays to find, to no avail. It didn't occur to me for a long time that I could see them at the end of the street.
